here are more pictures of my bench work and some of my train stuff organized under the table. i am sure glad that i put the table at a height of 39inches for the legs and the table top at 40inches it really makes a difference when you try to do work under there. thanks for the advice guys hope you like the pictures.
this makes a total of nine 4x8 sheets of plywood used so far and i have about six and a half more to put up that i think that me and my nephew will fini***omorrow take a look
heres one at a angle you might be able to see it a little better i also tried to straighten up my trains a little under the table also.
the next three pictures are of my stuff stacked up under the table nice and neat well not quite nice and neat but close enough. thats not all i have to stack up my nephew and i just got tired and said we will fini***omorrow.
the next one are of some of the rest of the stuff i have to stack up thats sitting on the table top.
the next two are of some of the track that i just layed out but took up so i could put my benchwork up.
Hey Reggie,
Looks like you are off to a good start. I hate to say this, but you will be stacking and restacking all your train boxes throughout your layout building, so get used to it. I think it is something we all go through, at least till we get the scenery done. I notice that you have some of the fair items, ie: ferris wheel, if you are looking for some buildings, the old K-line buildings were really Lemax. They are ceramic buildings and you can get them, mostly around the holidays at craft stores like Michaels, or I even found a bunch at Sears. Just keep your eyes out. Some of the items would work for a fair/carnival.
Keep up the good work,
Dennis
Reggie,
Congradulations on the bench top! Looks good. How wide is it? And are you going to have access to reach from the front to the back or do you have an access way at the back?
Looking good, keep the pictures coming, I enjoy them!!
Hey Reggie,
One tip I did pick up as far as working under the table, get a creeper, one of those mechanics types that you can be on your back and not slumped over. Try to save your back for retirement.
Dennis
takes for the comments guys and i will keep you all posted on any and all the work that i do.
sask-tinplater: it will be a while before i fini***he table top. it actually needs about 5 & 1/2 more 4x8 plywood sheets to be put up for the table top to be finished.
wickman: i have a plan and i posted it but that plan was done all in gargraves track and all i have is fastrack so i sent it back to the guy who designed it for me and told him to do it all in fastrack and now i’m just waiting on it to get to me in the mail. i will post it for you guys as soon as i get to get comments and tell me what you think of it and what i can do to make it a little better than what it is. the topics name that i posted the pictures under is: my pictures i think i got it lets see. posted on june 26, 2006 @ 10:36:52 if that helps but remember i getting the plans changed, also there is a diagram of the room and the measurements which you probably cant see.
dbacker48: the length is 35 feet from one end of the room to the other end. the width of the layout is 12 & 1/2 feet at the narrowist part and 17 & 1/2 at the widest if that gives you an idea of the room size. plus i dont want any access holes on the layout as you are able to walk on top of the layout and have access to everything like that, plus you can walk all the way around the layout and have a space of 33 inches to walk around the layout. also one corner is closed off so you cant actually walk all the way around the layout as you can walk all the way to one point and back around the layout to that exact point. so if you walk one way and see different things to that point you will have to walk back around and you will see things that you didnt see walking coming back the other way.
fj & g: there are plenty things to play with but the more i look at the trains and see what i have i think that i have to much stuff and more than i actually need. it looks like i can have my own hobby shop.
The start of the layout looks great. I think all you need is a 50" HDTV on the wall to make the room complete! There are a lot of orange and blue boxes under that table. I am looking forward to the finished layout so we can see what is in them.
Reggie,
Looks like you well on your way. I have yet to start on my layout but hope to in the next few months. I measured out the room I have to build in so I should be able to do a layout about 18ft. long by 12ft. wide. I noticed you said you did the plan for Cargraves track, that is what I was going to use - do you like the Fast Track better?
tschmidt: i have a question for you will you go half on that 50" hdtv. lol. but im for real. i thought about a 36" hdtv mounted up in the corner of the room thats right by the door as soon as you walk in. but will be willing to get the 50" if you go half and you come it as much as you like i promise.
daniels: well i wanted a real nice train yard that you can go in from on either end and the guy said that gargraves would be the best bet to get if i wanted a 8 track yard. which is what i wanted to have on the layout. but then i started thinking i have all this fastrack and it was the newest thing that lionel came out with at the time when i was buying all of my train supplies. plus it all the reviews about it was that your trains would run great on it and it was fast and easy to hook up and it could be put down any where to run trains on. the time i did have trains running in my sisters house on it i loved it and would recommend it to anybody to get and use. plus i ws buying it in bulk and i was getting a great deal on the track so why not buy it and give it a try. to see the pictures of what i had the forum topic is: ican find it but if you look at all of the topics i posted in the past 14 days one of them has me laying down on the floor playing with my trains and it held up pretty great being on the floor and my 4 year old nephew running around and jumping all on the tracks and not a dent or broken track in sight. it is very child proof and resist to a certian extent. until next time peace
Your layout will be great when it is finished. I like reading your posts showing the progress you are making. Keep up the great work, and keep us posted!
i made it to cincy ok and stop buy johnnys toys and got some really great prices on fastrack items as back in memphis a o72 right hand remote switch is 80 at the toy store it is 70 and on top of that i got 15% off that price for being a great customer. plus the 10 inch sections are 7.99 at home and 3.49 there so i think i hit the jack pot with price differences. plus all the actual track pieces are considerably cheaper than back at home plus i got a 15% on the stuff. plus thats where i got the majority of my fastrack at and i’m pretty cool with the store owner and manager if you ever go to the store in covington, ky just tell them that reggie told you about the store and recommended it to you. i want get any extra discounts as i already get a nice one. i posted the directions to the store on the topic: going on vacation or rather business trip. i recommend the store in conington, ky for i know the people there a little better. until next time peace
