A little no-account boast

My tiny fleet of GN Diesels just increased by one!*

  • 1 x Trainline FA1
  • 1 x Stewart F3
  • 2 x Athearn F7 AB units
  • 1 x Proto 1000 RS2*
  • 1 x Athearn GP7
  • 1 x Proto 2000 GP9
  • 2 x Proto 2000 SW9/1200

Okay, don’t laugh too hard. Everyone’s gotta start somewhere. But even those low-end F7’s are gonna look terrific pulling a 12-car consist of spanking new Walthers passenger cars (when they all finally arrive, of course).

Lynda [:D]

My roster looks similar.

Hey, I bet my F7’s are more sorry than yours! I’ve got one that I got in a yard-sale box-o’-trains from around 1960. (And that’s when I got it. I assume the seller had it for years before that.) Another one I got for 12 bucks at a train show. It’s 70’s or 80’s, at least. I got a dummy B off eBay, and I gutted a Hi-F rubber band drive for a dummy A. The two powered units are now equipped with decoders, Kadees and LEDs. Being old Athearns, they growl louder than any of my sound-equipped engines.

I’ve also got a P1K RS2, and a pair of P2K GP9’s. I’ve got a dummy GP9, too, again a gutted old rubber-band drive. All of these are Milwaukee Road, so I’ll see you out on the northern plains once they get the snow cleared.

Mine is worse. Thanks to a house fire, that is. Search for “MR items lost in house fire” thread for more on the fire, if ya like. Sorry, I don’t know the link.

Ah, well, I lost out on the brass GN snow dozer. I just couldn’t bear parting with $250 for a piece of non revenue equipment; so, It’ll be late spring b’fore I meet you on the northern plains [8D]

Like you, I’ve got a thing for refurbing things. All mine are new, but I s’pect by the time a layout’s ready for them, they’ll all be gutted and repowered. Keeps me off the streets. [:)]

Ok, I found the link. Incase you wanted to check it out.

No steam yet. I’m modeling 1955. My freelance will run some steam. I grew up with those magnificent PFM ads on the back covers of MR. I’ve actually got one of my father’s PFM Heavy Pacifics - never been out of the box, and for nostalgic reasons, it’ll probably stay there. One of these days, though, I’ll probably be bragging up a Consolidation or a GN S-2 Class 4-8-4. [:)] Probably won’t see any P-2 Class 4-8-2 Mountains, though. I never cared much for the looks of them.

Lynda

PS: You don’t get my goat [:D]

What? Small Rosters are good.

I was once a one engine railroad for years. Now I have several quality engines that will do a good job.

Nah! [:P] More is better.

Lynda

This is a Small Roster

Granted, I have converted all of them but the Roundhouse to DCC, no small feat given some of the engines, but man, Tracklayer, I am jealous!!! My other half would KILL me if I spent that much in trains in just 2 years…

Brian

I’ve been collecting for 6 years. As I look though I added more locmotives in 2006 than any prior year. Must be the sound…

http://www.thebinks.com/trains/locomotive_roster.html

ONE Southern SD9 (P2K w/DCC)

ONE Southern RS3 (Athearn RTR w/DCC)

ONE Southern E8 (P2K, just to look at for now)

I’ve got a few scrappers, but they don’t count because they don’t run.

I have about 30 cars too.
