Yesterday while my BNSF Metra train was arriving into union station, I saw 3 GATX SD40-2s (I think). One of them had a BRC set of ballast cars, another was sitting in Amtraks Yard, and the third was in the station. There were some gondola Cars labeled CEFX (I think) and some other freight cars in the station. Can someone please explain? is this part of Amtraks big upgrade of Union Station(they’re spending $50M)
I was at Union Station on Friday and didn’t see anything like that.
Oh, wait - I was at Utica Union Station…
There were at one point four GMTX GP38-2’s (2189, 2194, 2603 and 2604) working the rehab of the coach yard and engine terminal trackage. That part of the job seems to be winding down now.
