A mistake made on foam

Hello,

After removing my waits that were on my glued down HO code 100 track, I happend to notice that I made a HUGE error! In an area where I am putting in a tunnel I accidentally glued doing the wrong radius of turns (15"), and wanted 18". THis is what happens when you try to glue a yard and a tunnel at the same time!

My question is, what is the safest way to remove the track from the foam without doing 2much damage? I am using the Woodland Scenics Tack Glue. I was thinking of taking a putty knife to pry it off, and just risk damaging the paint. Is there an easier way IE: Hairdreyer or something? Any input is appreciated.

DON

Everything else glued down great with this stuff except for the human error.

Don,

A good, broad-blade putty knife ought to do the trick. Just use a gentle but consistent prying pressue to loosen the grip of the track from the glue.

I have used an old kitchen knife to do the same thing. Slip the knife under the the track perpendicular to it and slowly slide the knife down the length of the track. It should pull it up fairly easily.

And spray the adhesive with water.

Move the blade edge to pry at various places. Don’t pry up under one spot only. Go to the leading edge of that piece of rail, press and pry gently, move to one side, do the same, and then to the other side, back to the front, and then do the same for the piece BEHIND that one. It needs to come up mostly as well in order to free the one you want out completely.

Use your instincts…they are usually right.
