A new N-scale Layout is taking shape! (LARGE Layout Benchwork Photos)

Good afternoon all,

The day finally arrived where the tabletop benchwork is mostly complete (other than a backdrop and roadbed). Also I finally found the cord for the digital camera.

So without further ado, here are some pics:

Here is the layout from the hall doorway.

This is the swingout section (top right) and the liftout (small center section not installed permanently yet.)

You can see the drop down section in front of the door from the hall.

This is what I am most proud of. Its the foldown section folded, the liftout lifted, and the swing away swung to allow access to the closet.

Thanks

Chuck

Thats lookin’ real good! You’re more of a carpenter then me!

Hey,

Nice neat work there. Now, don’t take this wrong, but you’ve done a lot of work there just to gain access to the closet. Why don’t you simply take the closet dooor off the hinges? Doing that would save you having to have a large fold-back section. If you wanted neatness, just hang a nice curtain on the door frame. basically, it’s what i did for the room I’m designing my layout for. rather than have a large moving scetion to clear the entry door and allow it to open inwards, I just removed the door.

Again, though, nice work. Keep the images coming as work progresses.

Respects,

Thanks for the complement!

Mabe my carpentry standards are just too high. When I was in college my roomate built red oak cabinetry for a “hobby”. He was installing cabinets in a doctor’s home while we were in college!

So…my stuff will do, but its not as good as his!

Chuck

That’s some neat benchwork done! Your carpentry is super.

Look forward to see more as you progress.

Cheers,

Thanks,

I look forward to seeing it as well! I will keep y’all updated!

Wonderfull idea on the rollaway! I hope it works in person as well.

I have no space, so Im constructing an N scale layout on a hollow core door, that will be mounted in the center to a frame so it can pivot vertically and be rolled away for storage, then pivoted horizontal for playing. I may have pics to share sometime. I also am working on what may be the worlds smallest HO layout that can be stored away (I’m greedy).Neither is going to be a "plywood prarie’ either![;)].

Have fun keep us posted!

Modeling the RAILS system…

the Rural Allied Industrial System, where any and all may join the collective, share and lease equipment and ROW use for the betterment of mankind and profitability of all .

While I have papers to prove I’m not “all right in the head”, the RAILS SYSTEM is a world from inside my head, but its ok, they like me there.(I think)

Thanks for the complements Gwedd. I had considered the door removal/curtain idea as well and may use it if my fold around section doesnt work as well as I hope. My thought process was I could always go that route if “plan A” did not work.

I just attached my lift out section last night, but have no photos yet. I am planning on installing some backdrop this weekend and will post some pics monday!

Thanks

Chuck

Thanks for the comments “Galaxy”

Would like to see some pics of your plan when you get it put together. Sounds similar to the old chalk boards that could be flipped!

Neat!
