A new way to add poles along the line

I received this picture from a friend…I´m wondering to they switch cars in a yard like this.[:D][:D][:D]

They make a great bumping post.

Although the distance between the rail and the far post is pretty small, surely the flange can fit between the rail and the post, so the wheel should be able to make it past that point… what’s the problem?

This is an excellant way to reduce the width of the ROW and will save on land taxes… Right?

Interesting–they took out concrete ties to place those poles, but left the rail in place. I wonder why.

What for? The rails aren’t in the way!

They probably didn’t have a cutting torch handy…

is this RR owned by CSXT???..[:P]

would explain a lot…

I wonder if maybe the poles are scheduled to be moved and the rail was put down while the big machinery was in the area; the ties to be inserted later and the whole thing ballasted at that time.

…If someone make an error similar that happened in Denver…and a train moves down that track and gets to the poles, they might have a yard full of electric wires doing a little sparking on lots of stuff…

Now I know where the engineers that put a fire hydrant in a freeway exit ramp traffic lane went to…ModelCar: Naw, the free beer here had nuttin to do with it. Would it?

Pedro: Is there a Brazillian corrollary to the North American 6P’s or is this SNAFU?

Always interesting when Texas Tec graduates engineers…

Gig em![:D]

It actually looks like rail that was put together in advance and dropped for a later replacement… The track gang is in for a surprise when they show up for that replacement project. The big question is; are they going cut the rail or “chop-down” the pole to move the rail??

And what does an elephant designed by a committee look like? Now if the rails were shiny, we’d really have a mystery!

[:P]

Isn’t there a rail joint on the far side of the poles? Should be easy to separate the sections if they wanted to move them.

…Yea, guess that could be left over evidence of recent free beer…

My friend said me the picture was taken in Portugal. I think it is corret because the line is narrow gauge and Portugal have them there.[:)]

I now have the feeling that the poles (for catenary?) were there first. The track looks new, and the poles will have to be removed or replaced to accommodate the new line. Might be hard to schedule without major disruptions, but tracklaying has to meet its schedule, too. I suspect that everything will be hunky-dory by the time ballast is laid.

Mr. Burns, Mission accomplished!

Ah, sir…

Hush, Smithers I know this slug [censored] up, just play along. Now then you-- run along and…(Homer leaves Mr. Burns’ office in effort to catch an ice cream truck) Smithers?

Yes sir?

With pleasure sir.
