heres a pic of my layout i have just finished the siding on the left hand side tell me what you think. the whole thing still needs a bit of painting though

Like your continuous loop track plan.
In addition to painting, have you considered using the Woodland Scenics material to cover the bare surfaces? You can achieve a wide varitey of effects.
I noticed that you added a small board with a structure on it on the left side of the layout. Looks like it’s about 4 inches wide. Consider adding this to both sides, but the full length of the long sides of the layout. This would get the track away from the edge of the layout which could be a little distracting.

Hi Cody, looks like your off to a good start. I have to agree Antonio here, add some Woondland Scenic’s ground foam “Turf” to cover the barer secions of layout, I would possibly add your choice of ballast to the track to improve its appearance as well.

Awesome job CodyR. This is the way most of us started and it looks like your off to a great start. I second the comments above, plus add two. The siding at the bottom of the screen would be another great place for another industy. It would add operational variety because to get into the siding connected to it would mean youo would have to pull out a set of cars to service that industry. If you decide to not put an industry there that place would be a great place for interesting scene.
I showed my track plan to my LHS owner the other day and I will pass along the comment he told me. “Looks good, It’s simple and that’s good.”
