a prototype for everything

Just another example of “there’s a prototype for everything”: a rather large lump of coal.

Different! If the snow low hits that post, the plow will pay. Not the usual outcome.

Thanks for sharing.

It should have a No Smoking sign next to it.

Looks like an O scale piece of ballast fell on the N scale layout.

Someone is getting that for Christmas?

I want to see the stocking it’s going into!!!

But…but…but

WHO models a giant piece of coal Mailbox Stand?

That’ll heat someone’s home for a month! Just chip away at it a small piece at a time!

I want to see the look on the UPS driver faces!

The heck with that…I wanna see the look on SANTA’s face!!!

what about the poor kid who thought he was getting a train set for Xmas

If he gets live steam, he has it made!

I’ve got you beat! This peace of Ballast is from the BNSF line you can see in behind.[swg]

It’s the white rock in White Rock BC! White Rock (just outside Surrey and Vancouver, BC) was actually named after that rock.

I spent a week there this summer, and loved watching the BNSF trains along that line, as well as the Amtrak Cascades (although I couldn’t believe the stupidity of people who nearly got killed, as the line runs right along, and even crosses, the pedestrian promenade on the waterfront). Really beautiful spot!

I love the sign on the door behind the coal - “Hercules” !
