I purshased a MRC Diesel Sound Box and wi***o replace the 8 ohm speaker that came with it with two speakers with 4 ohms impedence. Question, is this advisable or will it damage the unit? Frm my Army schooling eons ago, I believe it will be O.K but just take more current flow to produce the same volume (I have plenty of volume control on the Diesel Sound Box).
Thanks for any help.
Two four ohm speakers will work just fine IF you wire them in series. That is one minus terminal to the other speakers plus terminal. Then connect the two wires that formerly went to the eight ohm speaker, to the unused terminals of the four ohm speakers. As current in a series circuit is always the same, there will be no increase in overall current.
