A question for you UP steam experts

I am trying to model the Las Vegas and Tonopah RR, Brooks 2-8-0’s #30-32. These engines are approximately the same size as the Bachmann 2-8-0, so I am going to use these as a basis for these engines. No pictures of these engines have ever shown up in my research and these engines were sold to the UP in 1917. Pictures of #31 from 1931 on the UP show it with a Vanderbilt tender. While Vanderbilt tenders were present on T&T, BG RR, and T&G, all pictures of smaller LV&T engines from Baldwin show rectangular tenders. My question is whether the UP was likely to have changed all of their 2-8-0’s to Vanderbilt tenders by 1930 or do you think these engines came with Vanderbilt tenders? I realize a definitive answer may not be possible. - Nevin

Do you know what number they were assigned in the UP?

UP historical Society has photo/data books for most all their locos.

volumes 22 thru 27 coverl 2-8-0.

you may be able to find them cheaper on amazon.

I already did that, I have photos of the engine in UP livery from the early 1939’s. . It shows a Vanderbilt tender. The question is whether UP changed most of their 2-8-0’s to Vanderbilt tenders prior to the 1930’s when the photo was taken.
