Hi, i have bought this lionel locomotive but need some help. I completly disassembe and i clean and lube all parts… the picture below is before cleaning…
when i try to run the e-unit buzzing… after few try it start but it buzz… why ?!? the e-unit is clean, please give me some suggestion !!!
Another source of E-Unit Buzz is the Tolerance of the Pawl as it Moves the Drum 45 degrees or the Housing for the Solenoid may be loose enough to cause a Buzz. Some E-units are quieter than others & it seems that you are one of the lucky ones to have a buzzing e-unit.[;)] I would not loose any sleep over it as it is just letting you know that it is working.[:)] Just lock the 2025 in forward when running it & the E-Unit will be off & you’ll have no buzz at all. Take Care.
Si il gancio non va completamente alla cima, la vibrazione puo essere molto piu forte. Forse la ruota non torna al completo al’ottova parte del circolo qualque volta, e ritarda il gancio e la pallottola.
If the pawl does not go completely to the top, the vibration can be much louder. Perhaps the drum is not turning a full eighth turn sometimes, and is holding the pawl and slug back.
now i have a new question in my mind… if i changhe the traditional e-unit with an electronic e-unit ?!? i have no problem with electronic e-unit in my other locomotive so i can decide to make this exchange… what do you think ?!?
Just from my interactions with him, no I doubt there is!
Just to add to his talents, he has the patience of a saint. He has demonstrated them in putting up with my questions and inability to pick it up on the first go-round.
hi guys, my english is learn by myself, i see every day my favorit show… Star Trek and with DVD i can change language… english is learn listening the actors specking
now, return to my problem… the 2025 is my only lok with this type of e-unit…
so how can resolve this porblem ?!? in the hiawatha have also this problem and i think is the 50hz’s bug !!!
Lionelsoni: i understood your post reading the original language, the italian translation is no good and i think is a program problem… tell me this, is an automatic translation ?!? i don’t want to be offensive or damage your sensibility… is only a consideration ! please exuse me!
Cesco, you cut me to the quick! It is my own poor Italian, not a machine translation. I wish I could speak and write your beautiful language better. Would it be too much to ask you to correct what I wrote, especially the technical terms, and e-mail it back to me? I would like to improve my Italian; but there is no Italian Star Trek to learn from here, only opera, which I love but which is very archaic.
As for your e-units, I think putting a bridge rectifier in might be worth a try, if only to see whether it cures the problem.
Un ultimo pensiero in italiano: Un giorno senza treni e come una cena senza vino!
Here is the sort of small bridge rectifier that you can use for an e-unit coil:
It is about 10 millimeters in diameter and rated at about 1.5 amperes, 50 volts or more. The 4 leads are probably marked +, -, ~, and ~.
Disconnect the coil from the two terminals where it is now connected. Connect the rectifier’s ~ leads to those terminals. Connect the coil to the rectifier’s + and - leads. So, before:
Ecco la traduzione lionelsoni (here is the translation)
Questo è un ponte rettificatore che puoi usare con la bobina dell’unità elettronica
immagine (here is the imagine)
