A question to all SP fans among us

Hi,

I recently opened a topic and got some interesting answers from some of you (thanks again). Perhaps by changing the headline, I’ll be able to gather some more information.

I am still curious to know whether SP also used Dash 8-40 C(W) engines from NS on their tracks. Anyone got a picture ? Perhaps somewhere in south east Texas ?

Juanfran

It most likely happened more than once. All the major Class 1 railroads have shared power for nearly 20 years now. A Santa Fe SD40-2 can be found on CSX as can an NS 8-40CW on SP.

Shoot, there’s a photo in John Signor’s book “Tehachapi” showing a Norfolk & Western SD40-2 sandwiched by a couple of SP diesels. Picture was taken around 1977, IIRC.

Run through power is nothing new.
