A quick stop at the LHS...

I stopped in at one of my LHS’s to see what was new there. Picked up a new Atlas Trainman ACF Covered Hopper in CSX paint, two wathers containers, a CSXT semi and CSXT intermodal 48’ container, as well as a Boley 4 door international painted for road crew. All for $30. Just my way of supporting a struggling LHS… Just wanted to share.

I know all about those “quick” stops. A few months ago I posted a thread about one of those quick stops to get a jar of ballast and spending $139. Just a couple weeks ago, I stopped to get some ground cover and Sculptamold and end up spending a hundo. The problem is that this particular hobby shop often deeply discounts rolling stock that has been on the shelf for a while and often I seen something that fits my era and locale and is just too good a bargain to pass up.

Yeah, sometimes you just can’t afford all the bargains [(-D]

Then the next thing you know you have enough rolling stock for a warehouse layout [#oops]

The reason I know this of course is that I have shelves full of bargains just waiting for a layout or three to get built.[banghead] but they were 50% off [:D]

Enjoy

I have a feeling the next time I go to the hobby shop I will be dropping quite a bit of money on stuff. Sadly I don’t even think I’ll have much to spend there. I’d like to get another engine the next time I go around trains if possible. My next big purchase for the trains will be styro, paint, and ballast. It’ll be nice to walk into a hobby shop again…

[#ditto] They had some Soo Line depressed center flat cars for 18 dollors. I just had to get 2.

That’s quite a haul for $30! My last trip was to a Hob Lob. I was only planning on spending around $40. Then I saw the 40% off after X mas sale sign. My $40 turned into $135 REAL quick.

The more you spend, the more you save, right?[:-^]

How about including a quick stop at the local train show - which is taking place this coming Sunday. I’m already predicting losing major weight in the back pocket.

Nothing beats the quickie at the LHS’s. I though I picked up a nice goody bad for a fair price. I was going to start spending again at this LHS being mentioned once they got the new stock they had been promising, and it just happened at an inoppertune time because I was actually venturing in the LHS to purchase the remainder of their older Athearn BB kits, but they had sold all of them already and was getting the new Atlas and Bowser kits in. Almost had a Bowser bought, but it slipped out of my hand back into the bin for a later purchase… So did the C&O covered hopper, I need to get some CSX on my main line, seeing as it is who ownes the BMRR… Oh well, I’m getting there!

My last stop only costs me 7.00 for a discounted Bowser Milwaukee Cement Hopper

My next stop wont be till June something and that will be Walthers most likely.
