A railroad you can model!

I came across this aerial photo on another forum. It’s the Colorado Railroad Museum but looks like a layout drawing right out of the 101 railroad plan book! If you’d build this “railroad”, virtually any locomotive or rolling stock would be “prototypical”! And there’s even a turntable to add operating variety! Interesting!

There is an old adage in this hobby. “There is a prototype for everything”. Apparently that is even true for roundy-rounds.

here’s another one:

Both for the narrow gauge fan - so even if you have limited space, you can get it all in! The Colorado one is a 1/3 mile loop, the New Jersey one in Allaire State Park is 5/8 mile, both 3’ narrow gauge.

Am I missing something here ? How do you exit and enter this system ? I did not see any track leading into or out of there ?

They are both self-contained museum railroads.

Oh yeah - another one is the railroad circling Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn.

And the Edaville Railroad…

I was thinking the same thing about the colorado railroad museum, thanks to google earth, I found out that the oval of track could fit on a 9x5 table!

Still the question begs to be asked. How does one get a new display in ? Its not like you can pick up a loco and throw it on your back and carry it in .
