A rather nice Boston & Maine video..

Yes, I know, there are ten million plus train videos on Youtube. But this one really captures the essence of railroading in the early 70s. Very nicely done…the music fits, a fine artistic achievement I think.

A little fuzzy, jumpy, even too dark toward the end. But that could be my mind, too, as I watched with affection and fascination. Location isn’t shown but my guess is north of Whitefield on the Conn River line and probably more to the late 60’s than 70’s with the first train especially empty paper cars heading back to the mills with some kaolin or acid cars on the head end…what the containers were on the hind end is anybody’s guess. The other train was more difficult to ascertain it’s cargo but was up in the same area…

Yes, fuzzy and a bit jumpy too… but even that gives it some character. I figure it was early 70s ( I could be wrong) as there were some CP Rail and Penn Central cars in the mix… CP became CP Rail with its action red boxcars in 1968… so you’re right maybe very late 60s.

A bit jumpy? Well, let’s give the photographer some slack here. It looks like it was C-O-L-D!

Yes, good point. And he stood there and shot the entire train!

Probably frozen in place.

A wealth of Fallen Flag car reporting marks!

Loved it. Part of the world I once knew well. Note the mix of Alco road-switcher and EMD GP-7’s and F units, usually the Alco RS-2 or RS-3 leading, I suppose because of its slower pick-up. Thanks!
