A Real professional photographer is coming over today...

Roger has already written the article for CTT, question is: what do you guys want to see? Close ups? Medium shots, long shots?

Please don’t ask to see underneath… IT AIN’T PRETTY!

Jon [8D]

Jon…Knowing you are an expert with sound, we want to see the videos with sound after you show us underneath. “Curious minds want to know what is under the layout.”

Congratulations on your layou being published in CTT. It will be outstanding to see you in your conductor uniform for the obligatory owner photo.

“A Real professional photographer is coming over today…”

I hope it is Dennis Brennan.

Thanks, Frank, but it’s not me.

Who is going to shoot your layout, Kooljock?.

I like to see a mix of all three types. At least one wide shot of as much of the layout as possible because that type of pic usually helps to put it into perspective. Least favorite are close ups which I call “diorama” shots, but if the scenes are nicely detailed, no problem. And medium shots hopefully will include lots of trains. Congrats.

Texas Pete

Jon, I vote for all three. Like one overview shot, followed by a mix of area and then specific “Money shots”. As for looking under the layout, that is like a bagpiper, never ask what’s under the kilt!

Congrats!

Dennis

He’s gotta encapsulate how much operation you have encorporated in a relatively small area. Not too far back, and not too close. Oh, and a few “night” shots.

Like I told BK last month at YORK, Jon’s layout will have some folks rethinking their own layouts.

Enjoy it, JB! [;)]

Thanks for the replies, guys.

The photographer was the staff photographer for The Vermont Teddy Bear Co./Pajama-Gram Company. He’s done some really nice stuff that ranks up there with Fritz VonTaggen. And with VTBC cutting back, he is very available. And his wife works with my wife, so it all comes together!

Fife: thanks for the kind words. It was a ball getting to meet you and your wife last year. We’re shooting for making the Baltimore TCA next year. Maybe we’ll see you then?

Jon [8D]

Jon, if your article goes anything like mine it can be a long wait till publication. Photos were submitted going on 2 yrs. ago and the draft of the article was approved, maybe a year ago now. I am still waiting to see it in print. Last time with the other mag. it was almost 3 yrs. I guess that’s why you often see the owners bio mentioning that he’s deceased.

Ouch!

I’m only 45, so I’ve got some time yet!

Jon [8D]

How did the shoot go?

Kooljock - Already tossed my hat in the ring for the layout tour.

Oh, do you like sailing…? [;)]

Dennis,

It is rather labor-intensive, isn’t it? Especially in a tight room like I’ve got. Ask Fife about that! Trying to get the camera and lights into spots where they just weren’t meant to be causes all kinds of problems. Anyway, we got some good ones, and I’m hoping Roger and staff can use a few.

Next layout: natural room lighting and removable scenery sections for lenses!

Fife! Why yes, I do:
