A real railroader, a real model railroder

I first sat behind the the throttle of a QNS&L GP9 when I was 6, I sat in that seat many times until I reached the age of thirteen and discovered girls. Let me explain. My Dad was an engineer for the QNS&L and he would take me on trips “up the line” every summer, all summer, as long as I could stay awake and respond to his commands. I did, and then along came girls. Somehow girls were better looking (HUH?) than brand new SD40-2’s that were regular in the consist when I was 13. Now when I look back, the SD 40 was a nice young chick and she could excite a young mans dreams especially when she roared. OH what a delema!!!.

I married a railroaders daughter and became a CN Conductor in 1984 and Engineer in 1988. I left that company in 2000, I now work for the OCR, and they run RS18’s, beautiful, but a close 2nd.

RS18’s are beautiful, bet a close second to whom? The old GP9 or your wife? LOL (Don’t tell her I said that!)

Darrell, ducking, and quiet…for now

I love this thread! Great, very funny.
The OC looks pretty good, but in my mind the CPR in the east looked better 10 years ago, with the RS-18s and ALCo/MLW centuries.

There’s no school like the old school. Mabyee its a u-boat you’re hitting on & you don’t know it.

U-Boats. Ewww. Those skinny doors, that wierd burbling sound and for some reason they always smell funny. Give me a SD40 anyday. Big doors and that great EMD roar.

Oh, Oh! Never compare the little woman with a diesel, not even an SD40, it is likely to raise the boiler presure to way above safe levels… and she may not steam well for a while! LOL

accord1959, hopefully you’ve been “trained” well and will avoid getting your caboose derailed!
