A Ride On Amtrak's Texas Eagle-June-July 2005

I will be leaving oin about 10 minutes to head towards Poplar Bluff, Missouri (I live near Fisk, MO, I use PB in my profile so people can find it on a map without a microscope, lol). I will watch the Southbound Amtrak Texas Eagle Train #21, I will wait 2 hours and get on the northbound Eagle, Train# 22. The current status is: Arriving Poplar Bluff, MO (PBF)

Service Station Scheduled Actual/(Estimated) Status
Arrival Departure Arrival Departure
22 Texas Eagle Poplar Bluff, MO
(PBF)
3:09 am
29-JUN-05 (3:18 am)
estimated Estimated arrival: 9 minutes late.

As of the last report at 10:50 pm at Arkadelphia, AR (ARK), it was running 23 minutes late.

I’m going from Poplar Bluff to Lincoln, IL, that’d be cool if people got shots of my train, if you happen to see it and get a photo, let me know!!!

I will come back on train 21 on June 30, I will be home on July 1st at 1:02 A.M. I will have a load of photos tied into a travelouge, they will be posted on my site at www.trainweb.org/semorails by the weekend. [:D][:)][8D][;)][}:)][:p]

OFF I GO!!!

Give us a report on the trip, please!

All I can say is enjoy yourself/ Looking forward to the pix[:o)]

I’m back and I got the photos on my computer, I couldn’t post them by the weekend though, I had to go back to Illinois…I will have them posted by NEXT weekend, lol.

Did ya forget your camera and have to go back for it? [;)]

(I think I ran across your photos at PPictureArchieves though.) [:D]

A good storyteller knows how to keep audiences in suspense…
(but without surrendering any necessary suspension of disbelief).

Did you come up to Gorham? You should go up to Chester and spend a day there, and then on the way back home do some shooting around Halsey Junction at the Big Muddy Bridge. I shot there and it’s a good spot, still gotta go up to Chester though…[:o)][:D]

Like I said a weeks ago, lol, I would post those photos…well, I got them done about Tuesday, it took a lot longer than I thought. My mom had back surgury the first part of last week, and between my sister and I, we’ve been there almost every second. Plus, the dang Tropical Depression Dennis came over…that dropped about 5 inches of rain and our rice fields were running over and breaking levees, it’s been one helluva week…so without further…uh…waiting…here are the photos, there is information with each one of them: http://uptrain.rrpicturearchives.net/archiveThumbs.aspx?id=5659 . I hope ya enjoy, lots of them, so get a drink and some chips while you look, about 195 of them, lol. Thanks for sticking with this topic for 3 weeks, lol.

P.S. Nope, didn’t forget the camera, I went to my dad’s fiance’s house and took even MORE photos (like in Mount Vernon, IL at National Railway Equipment) lol…in the town that I almost got arrested for being a railfan: Greenville, IL, a town of less than 10,000 people, all paranoid I guess.[:)][:D][8D]

Thanks for posting, Zach. Makes me want to make the trip. Loved the Illinois Central car/restaurant.

Larry

Great to see those photos and am happy the trip went OK.
