A Scratch Built 4-Wheel Caboose (Pics)

I scratch built this 4-wheel caboose using a potpourri of parts I had in my scrap box. To say this caboose is freelanced is an understatement! The model has no specific prototype, making it one-of-a-kind and very unique. Parts include Kadee couplers, Intermountain ladders, Builders in Scale chains, Grandt Line stovepipe and brake wheels, North Eastern scribed wood, window and door castings from a recycled Labelle kit, and an assortment of strip wood. All the hand grabs were formed by hand using .010 wire. The caboose was lettered with Microscale decals.

P.S.

After posting the pics, i realized that one of the side steps seemed out of place. Sure enough, i found it loose and unglued. Anyway, it’s all fixed now. Good example of why using pictures to examine your work makes for a great modeling tool.

I saw the title of the thread, then I saw your name under it, and I knew this was going to be good! Bob, you didn’t disappoint! Exellent work! You almost make me want to leave N scale…almost!

Excellent work!

Great looking little bobber.

Bob you have done it again. I am AMAZED!!! I wish you lived close to me, I need a god teacher to show me how it is done.
