A Short Shortline

Good feature with photos and a map. Is this whats left of the TM&W? Anyone know what the shortest short line is?

Really just guessing, but I’d bet money on the Middletown & New Jersey, which has been cut back to almost nothing.

Theres a shortline in Texas thats only .5 miles in length, I am not sure what it is, but the owners wanted Amtrak Service on it!

Its wierd that in the state that likes everything big, that the also have the shortest commen carrier as well!

In Texas, it’s not the “shortest”, it’s the “most short”! [(-D][}:)][swg]

Correction=MT&W, is now the TR since the 80’s, 90’s.

The JS didn’t take into consideration what the TR uses.

Of last count they had 3 engines, not 2.

They do OWN 4 miles of line, but have the trackage rights for the 10-12 miles between Bradley, JCT and Tomahawk (WC/CN does not use it too much to my understanding)

Their enginehouse is in Tomahawk, along with M-O-W equipment, and the General Offices.

They own a ex-EJ&E transfer caboose, and a homebuilt plow, along with the (3) engines.

They use WC boxcars for the mill.

The Gen. Offices are in the old 2 story Milwaukee Road depot (Not the stucco depot in the yard)

They are nice people there. They took us on a tour of the yard, gave us a ride in a cab, and even gave us some small hunks of rail, and a switchstand!
