Hi guys,
Just finished my first scene on my layout… finally…here’s some pics at the west end of the East yard…[:D] chuck
Chuck, nice…, very nice! It is a great feeling to have that finished peice of real estate sitting there in front of you isn’t it. Great work! I look forward to seeing more soon.

I like it. Very well done. Looks great.
Great scenery ! Everything blends really nice! What kind of camera did you use to take the photo’s?
You seem to have a very good eye, Chuck. Very nicely done. Show us more!

the camera is an olympus c-4000 with a 10x zoom…i wouldn’t recommend it …the background is always dark and it doesn’t have a feature to turn off the flash…I think i’m gonna sell it on e-bay one of these days and get a toshiba camera…it takes a lot better photos and the background lighting is the same as the foreground…chuck
Excellent, excellent. Love the detail. The road signs really make this realistic and the blending of the foreground with the backdrop is really good. I had to look real close at the third picture where the road disappears into the backdrop. Only the shadow from the right RR crossing sign gave me a clue.
Chuck,
Looking good, my friend. I have a habit of focusing on roads when I look
at other people’s work. I really like yours… inspiring. Care to share your
methods? This is an area that I need practice and advice. Good luck. Dave
Nice work chuck. That scene looks very much like one scene I have in mind for my new layout. If it’s alright with you, I’m going to use your photos as reference. I just wi***he pics were bigger. Hurry up and go get that new camera big fella[(-D][(-D][(-D]

Well done!

sure will!..I used a light gray matte board for the road…I then used a dilute solution of floquil’s, “Grimy Black” and “concrete” and applied it very gently with an old piece of T-shirt cloth wrapped around my finger…I had some problems at first …I used woodland scenics rub on transferable decal striping but then they were covered with the paint when doing the shading with the above two colors…so back to the drawing board…after the t-shirt method, I just taped it off with masking tape and painted the striping on the road with testors white and yellow paint with a small artist’s brush …it took longer to put on the rub off decals than just painting the stripes…I think that’s the last time i 'll use the woodland scenics rub of transfer decals…they are just too unpredictable when it comes to the final result…I’ve even had some break in half before transferring them…once all the paint dried i went over the entire road with a very dilute wash of india ink…I don’t think it’s all that great, but i’m also my worst critic…[:D]…chuck

I have this one and I like it
Chuck,
Lookin’ good. Keep up the good work.
Depending on where the flash is on the camera, you could try covering it with some tissue paper. It’s a trick I use when photographing up close.
