A sunny morning on Amtrak's NE Corridor

Good afternoon,
Got a new 300mm lens, and wanted to give it a good test at shooting fast moving trains, so what better place than the Northeast Corridor? Here is one with an AEM7 blowing past a Septa Commuter local:

Enjoy!

[wow] Thanks for the great shot. So that’s what 300mm can do.

Now could you try for the Acela? [:P]

Fixed the link for the more technologically challenged members among us…

Very cool shot!

Liked your photo a lot. BTW do you know what shutter speed you (or the camera) chose to get this shot?

Outstanding photo. Thanks for sharing.

The NE corridor is one of my favorite sites for train watching, but I haven’t been there for a while. Your picture brought back the impression those speeders give.

Nice picture. What a tangled web of wires.

I almost forgot – [#welcome] !

Thanks for the nice comments guys, and for fixing the link. The shutter speed for this shot was 1/2500 of a second. And I do have an Acela shot from last weekend as well. I will have to get it online and I will post that link here as well.

from prior post: “I do have an Acela shot from last weekend as well. I will have to get it online and I will post that link here as well.”

Looking forward to it! - a.s.

…Yes, welcome to the forum.

That is a really dramatic shot…Sharp. Like how the 300mm compresses the catenery uprights and even the rail appears to be rather smooth under such compresson. Guess I’m kinda surprised how sharp and clear the shot is with such camera speed and long lens. Was it done with a tripod…?

Edit: Guess I’m a little surprised the AEM7 doesn’t have the windshield protection…{bars, screen}, across it. Or is that not used anymore…?

Great picture, thanks for sharing. Also, thanks to the person who fixed the link.
