Great engineer’s-eye view. Very impressed with your bench work, also. I’m trying to create my own raised platform RR emtpire and like how you used the hardware cloth. I might try that myself. Thanks!
A most practical layout for viewing, love it.
It has a high impact as you can get very close to the trains at eye level without doing gymnastics, allowing you to be part of the scene.
Look forward to watching it grow
Well done
Look"s great. Great job.
That looked great wish I coulg aford the Gscale but IM still having fun with the HO. I liked the ideal of the safty screen all aroud the the table.Very well done thanks for the look.
Great start. Maybe a branch line to somewhere? Good luck with your project.
John, on top of the wire screen, Billy uses weed abatement cloth which allows water to drain easily. He then uses an inexpensive top soil as filler followed by ground cover material as required for scenery. It seems to work really well. The layout (as seen in this video) was just started earlier this year and work is progressing.
very nice, i wish i had a yard to do any track
Pretty cool layout.
very nice!!
After years of a ground level railroad that ran ten trains, I moved to the country on the side of a hill. Trains don’t like hill sides. My knee’s also don’t like ground level railroads. Donated all my trains to a museum and now run them up on a ceiling. There is nothing like out door railroading. The best days of my life were down in the dirt. A raised layout is the only way to go after you reach 70. Like you layout. may use some of your ideas on my next layout.
It was cool, but my suggestion is to try and make your railway long or make it bigger.
Very smooth and neat.
I very much like the elevated and undercover system you have created. As I get older I look for ways to make “garden” railroading more appropriate for my age and health. Thanks for planting a seed in my brain.
i like youre train modles keep up the good work
Great Video. I love your layout. And the music… All I can hear is the Chicago Bulls Announcer
Also interested in knowing more about your outdoor benchwork! Looks like redwood or cedar framing? How high from the gound surface, and what are the approximate dimensions of our outdoor layout? Thanks for any information you can pass along.
Outstanding video. I’m in the process of clearing some land for my own garden railroad. I’m planning an elevated railroad too. I would like to see more of your benchwork and more details on how you put it together. Thanks for the show. Hope to see more as you progress. Taylor Co. TX
kool layout
