A Towering Development (Layout Pics)

Lackawanna Junction is now protected by (imaginatively named) Lack Tower:

Overview of wye junction:

From mainline side:

From access road side:

The tower is the familar Atlas kit, and the section house is left over pieces from a Life Like Supply House kit.

Nbrodar, cool looking scene!

The tower looks like the type that was common along the U.S east coast.

BTW: What technique did you utilize for weathering your rails?

That is a nice scene. I like the extra shed to the side, thats is good touch.[:D]
Was the section house a kit or did you kit bash it?
I admit, I am jealous that you have turning wye[V].

AntonioFP45 : To weather the rails, I simply brush painted the rails and ties with Polly S. Then laid the ballast. The main with the gray ballast is Zinc Cromate Primer, and the spur in the background with the cinders is DRG&W Freight Car Brown.

Big John: I had some pieces left over from another kitbash, that I used to make the section house.

Thanks for the response.

One thing…did you poli***he tops of your rails?

The track looks good, but from the photo it looks like the rail tops have rust on them as well.

Nice!

I wanted a western (California) style tower for my line. Best kit was the Suydam tower & shed. Took me a long time to find one to build. But If you can get it I’d recommend it for western roads…especially Santa Fe and SP.

That’s probably just the lighting. I cleaned the railheads with a piece of shop towel, before the paint dried. I just use rubbing alcohol on a shop towel to clean the rails, no fancy polish.
