Was at the A/Trak station in Austin today shooting pix of trains going by there. Train #22 was due there @ 1030 but arrived at 1046 & departed @ 1056. What a foound somewaht suprising was that the UPRR had dispatched at least a mile long or longer MT coal train only 15/20 minutes before the A/Trak departed. The train had a sleeper, diner & a few coaches. 2 of the coaches had been side swiped. While the windows had been repaired the exterior had not so visually it did not look very pretty.
Does anybody know if that track is used for NBs where does the line for the SBs go thru?
Taylor-Bastrop-Smithville-Lockhart-San Marcos. All ex-Katy. Other southbounds (ex-SP) Hearne-Giddings-West Point-(ex-Katy) Smithville-Lockhart-San Marcos. Between San Marcos and San Antonio, it’s predominantly one-way SB on ex-Katy and NB on ex-MoP–the tracks are several hundred yards apart (or less) for much of the trip.
