A truly momentous occasion

I have been modeling for about 10 years and have been running on my first layout for about 5 now. It is small and was surpassed by my own skill and interest long ago. I have been planning my new layout for about 2 1/2 years but had to put off actual construction due to a move that I knew was coming. I am not complaining because the time enabled me to think and rethink my track plan and many different aspects of the new layout over and over until I came up with my present plan which I believe I will be quite happy with. Well, I moved in July, bought lumber for benchwork in August, but today was the day I’ve been looking forward to. I actually started constructing benchwork tonight.

I only write this as encouragement to those out there who are waiting to build. Maybe you have a good reason to wait for a period of time, as did I. If so, know that when the day comes it will be quite gratifying. Maybe you are just putting it off because you’re intimidated by the task. If so, dive in. It is the most gratifying thing you can do.

Thanks Ron,
sounds like you are having a lot of fun with your project… Congratulations.
I’m in a similar phase (research and planning mostly at present), but intend to have things up and running by Christmas. The club that I belong to is just starting a new diorama - that’s exciting for me because I know very little about wiring in particular, and products/ supplies to use … by working through the process with the club, I anticipate less difficulty with the home town layout.
have fun
