The paint job of the cab suggests it"s a cra***est locomotive.
Who’s the owner, you are. The Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration.
I’d imagine this unit is going to get crashed into something (fixed object, maybe another train, etc.) The grid markings would be measured after impact for the extent of compaction. Perhaps this is a new cab design (i.e. better internal crash resistance) that is being tested.
Nice signature art there but on a tunnel motor the cooling fans are beneath the radiators not on top of them as your picture shows. They are in behind the two or three horizontal doors above the grills on the sides. The top of the units are just a big grill over the radiator cores. Nice try though. If you are in DM&IR territory you can travel down to the overpass at the north end of Proctor yard and look down on the top of the tunnel motors in service there to see what I am talking about.
It was probably “smashed” several years ago. There should have been high speed cameras or high speed vidieo taken of the impact. Some copies maybe available if you needed this info and could pay for the copies. I doubt it would be made available just for entertainment As always ENJOY [2c]
