It was actually class W1 (a 4-6-4) - origianlly LNER No. 10000
The site I put a link to above explains the LNER’s classification system. For steam locos it involved a letter for a particular wheel arrangement eg A = 4-6-2 and then a number eg “Flying Scotsman” is an A3, “Mallard” an “A4”.
