The place to discuss wiring for DC and DCC controlled model train layouts. If you’re new here, please read our forum policies.
Hello Everyone. I got my first train set when I was 8 years old. Dad built me a 4x8 platform and that started my love for model railroading. Because of my young age It got put on hold as I grew through my adolescent years. Many times as an adult I pondered on building a layout and getting back into it but the opportunity was never really there. Now at 61 years old, my wife and I have a home that we have no desire to move from. We agreed on a room in the house that is 16’ 6”x 18’ for me to build my dream layout. What I would kindly ask is for guidance and advice on DCC. Thank you very much in advance for your help. Ron Harper, Tulsa Oklahoma.
Gee whiz RonH you never got a reply.
Hope 11 months isn’t too late. More info is required as your question is way too open ended. What scale do you plan to model? Are you going to take up the whole room? What skills do you bring to the table? How much are you willing to spend? Have you thought about the shape of the layout? Era? What do you like best (or think you like best) about the hobby)? One piece of advice is read, read, read, not necessarily old DCC books, but Youtube channels of which there are many. There are 2 model railroad clubs in Tulsa. Challenger N Scale and Green Country. Do a search, visit them and chat them up. You will get more info there than anywhere else. If you want to play around with layout design, spend $80 on something like Anyrail, the best layout design software on the planet and very easy to use in any scale/brand of track. Good luck. Ron
