I’ve accumulated quite a few of those AC Adapters from now unused electronics equipment over the years… from small radios, cameras, cell phones, etc. Is there anyway to use these in RR modeling?
Thanks, Hal

Yes, they can be used for the lights inside buildings, streetlights, or for powering sound effect modules around a layout. Just be careful that you don’t exceed the Amperage rating of the adapter.
Absolutely. Pay attention to the voltage listed, and use them to power structure lighting, switch machines, anything that needws DC power. You need to also be aware of the total amps available so that you do not overheat them.
Good thread. I have two boxes of those things and now I have a use for them.
Don’t forget the power supply for the old printer that died. They typically put out quite a bit of current and are laying around with nothing to do…
My HP power supply is now feeding my switch machines after I built a voltage regulator for it to drop the voltage. Cost $0.75 in parts, and now I’ve got a 1/2 amp 10 volt supply.

you can also turn that AC power into DC power by merely putting in a diode or a bridge rectifier to filter out the half wave of the AC current…just be sure the components have a high enough rating so that they don’t get hot and burn up…chuck
