AC adaptors

I have a few ac adapters just wondering what the max they will carry. The first one has input AC 117V, 60hz, 20w-Output DC 12V, 1a max. Next, Input 117VAC, 60hz, 6w-Output 11vdc 55mA. Last, Input 120vac, 60hz, 6w-Output 9vdc, 100mA. Im installing turnouts and dont want to rob power from my transformer.

You just answered your own question–the output of each transformer is the maximum they will carry.

If I understand you correctly, you want to use these AC adapters to operate turnouts. If they’re twin-coil turnouts, none of the adapters except maybe the first one would be adequate. Twin-coil turnouts take over 1 amp of current momentarily when they operate. They may be a little sluggish on 12 volts and are much peppier on 16 volts. You’d do better using the aux terminals on your throttle if it’s got enough reserve to operate turnouts without slowing the locomotive. Two alternatives: buy a 1.5 amp AC adapter or get your hands on one of those little power packs that come packaged with train sets and use its aux output.
