AC/DC Traction voltage and current draw

Thanks for the info in the AC/DC discussion below. In modern 4000 hp units, what would the voltage and current draw be? I’m curious about cable size to carry these huge power amounts.

Ballpark round numbers…

600 Volts

1000 Amps

You’re asking about DC-motor units?

If so, maximum current through each traction motor would be something over 1500 amps at starting, and maybe at low speed. Maximum voltage at the other end of the speed range … well, the GP50 was 1350 volts; maybe an SD70 doesn’t need to go any higher than that?
