Anyone own some British O Gauge engines or rolling stock by Ace Trains or Basset Lowke? Never really see many of those and it’s a shame because they are nice trains. If you have some pics, it’d be awesome if you could post them.
I don’t but would love to. They are gorgeous but pretty high dollar. Many are also DC only.

Don’t have one…yet, but I look forward to adding one to my fleet. They are spectacular. Also, the folks at ACE are very nice to deal with. I too would be interested in anyone who already has one to post photos and tell what they think.

All run well, though the Bassett-Lowke might be a bit quirkier than the Ace - but that may have more to do with the DC three-rail. I had hoped we’d receive one of their new 4-4-0s to review, but nothing so far. I get a weekly e-mail from Hattons (hattons.co.uk or ehattons.com) , a large train dealer in Liverpool, and Bassett-Lowke has just come out with a set with a Class 20 diesel and three boxcars for about $1,000 US (700 pound list, 489 pound sale price).

The Ace Trains and Bassett-Lowke models are excellent, don’t hesitate to purchase either one if you come across them. I prefer the Ace models for their heavier diecast construction compared to the tin of Bassett-Lowke, although both will run on AC/DC current. The Ace model contains 2 motors and can take 18V 3 rail, although the Bassett-Lowke can run 2 or 3 rail via a lever.
My Ace Trains A3 “Papyrus” in dark BR green with the matching maroon BR coaches is pictured in the back of the photo. The engine in the front is the Basett-Lowke “Humourist” A3… (oh and my MPC F3AA is center for size comparison).
Weaver Models was going to import the Ace A3, however that deal fell through. Everyone is correct about the price; be prepared to spend up to $2000.00 for an A3 and 4 coaches given the dollar to pounds exchange rate.
