ACL and the use of a caboose

G’day All,

Did the Atlantic Coast Line (ACL) use cabooses up until it merged with the SAL in 1967.

Merry Xmas.

Yes, of course. Cabooses for most U.S. carriers were eliminated in the early 80s–quite a few years after the ACL/SAL merger. Florida East Coast was an exception, eliminating them about 1972. In some appplicatons requiring long back-up moves in local switching, sare still used and called by some “shoving platforms”.

Thanks. I guess it was similar to here in OZ
