Acme model railroad products?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anybody has ever dealt with Acme regarding the switch controllers? I’d like to know if they are legitimate, beacuse ther prices are ridiculous on the cheap side, and I don’t want to be scammed.

Gee, don’t be so negative. Acme has been around for a helluva long time and makes a good product.

I visited their shop back in the mid-1970s, when I was looking for someone to do some subcontract work for us.

Go ahead and place an order. You will won’t be disapointed.

For what it’s worth I used an Acme model 308, 8-button, FLUSH-mount switch controller for twenty years on my largest-ever layout to control Lionel 022 turnouts run with constant-voltage plugs at as much as 18 volts. The controller worked flawlessly, and if I ever build another “permanent” layout will re-install it. (This was strictly “post-war” operation; no experience with electronics, etc.)

It is very compact and inexpensive without being “cheap.” From my “control panel” I was able to see all the switch lanterns on my layout so the lack of switch-position indicators was no problem in my case. I merely cut out a rectangular hole in the homosote, dropped it in and screwed it down lightly. It never moved.

The manufacturer says one can use them anywhere a momentary switch is needed. Bottom line: ok styling, very reasonable cost and no operational complaints.
