Acrylic Weathering over Enamel?

Have you tried to apply Acrylic weathering over Enamel?

I have a brass Loco that I’ve read should be painted with enamel. However, all my weathering colors are Acrylic. Specifically, they’re Floquil and Polly Scale.

Did it work for you? Do you have any helpful tips?

Thanks,
Dave.

I use craft paints regularly to weather virtually all of my equipment. Accurail cars are painted with Floquil, and they take craft paints extremely well. Keep in mind, however, that you need a FLAT surface to weather with 'em. Accurail cars come dead flat, which isn’t a priblem, but I ususlly hit Bowser cars (which usually have a gloss surface) with a coat of Dullcoat before I weather.

If you are asking can I weather with Acrylic paints over a base of enamel, then yes but the enamel must be completely dry! I would wait at least a week or so before weathering. You are waiting for all of the solvent based vapors to be completely gone, otherwise the acrylic will craze (have tiny cracks all over).
hope this is helpful
