Activity at the alternate hideway ?

This does not fare well for Federal Infrasture share for railroad dollers.

The Buckingham Branch operates more railroad than Amtrak uses.

Another tidbit about the route from Orange south and west–the track from Orange to Gordonsville was constructed by the Orange and Alexandria to gain access to Charlottesville by using the Virginia Central west of Gordonsville. After the Orange and Alexandria built its own track to Charlottesville, the Orange-Gordonsville section was sold to the C&O–which used it to gain entrance to Washington.

Correction: after reading further in Wikipedia, I learned that the NS still owns the Orange-Gordonsville track (even though it has C&O mileposts, and there is a long-term lease to CSX in effect. (And the Buckingham Branch uses it.)
