Add a lake

I want to add a lake to my lay out, and I am building a modelrail road for the first time and I’m a beginner. What can I use that is easy to make a lake. Thanks

I’ve used a product called Envirotex lite pour-on plastic finish which worked very well on my layout. Preparation of your scenery (lake) before pouring the casting resin is most important. If you can get your hands on an article that appeared in Model Railroader magazine in June 1996 page 76 titled “let’s model water” by Jim Kelly it would show you exactly how to make your lake. If you are unable to get copy of said article let me know and give me your E-mail address and I’ll scan you a copy of it - that would be easier than try to explain to you how to prepare your foundation for your lake - let me know - regards

Mike,
I used Envirotex-lite twice. It is easy to use,no smell. If you are making the lake in foam ,you must seal the area very well.Make the lake no more than 3/16"deep, then paint it the color you’ve chosen.Use the wood stirrer to pu***he mixture to the edge of the lake add a little at a time as to not overflow it.

Extremely smelly method but very easy. use fiberglass resin mix it with the hardener, make sure you paint your lake black in the middle and ble or brown at the edges. Pour in… good luck
