Adding a photo to my profile

I give up, how do I add a photo to my profile? And while you are at it, what is an “Avatar?”

Here is what I got from Wikipedia. Not too useful.

An avatar (अवतार, from the Sanskrit word for “a form of self”, commonly used in many Indian languages) is a computer user’s representation of himself/herself or alter ego, whether in the form of a three-dimensional model used in computer games,[1] a two-dimensional icon (picture) used on Internet forums and other communities,[2][3] or a text construct found on early systems such as MUDs. It is an “object” representing the embodiment of the user. The term “avatar” can also refer to the personality connected with the screen name, or handle, of an Internet user.[4]

Pick ‘Update Profile’ in the ‘My Profile’ box on the right hand side of the forum screen.

Pick the ‘Avatar’ tab.

Pick ‘enable avatar’ button.

Browse for and pick the desired picture. I think the picture I am using is in the standard ‘My Pictures’ folder that Windows sets up.

Somebody told me how to cut & paste a photo a couple of years ago, I have forgotten how since then, but it involved splitting the screen by going to either shift or alt button & hitting another key. With that method I was able to download some photos from photobucket.com to the sunday photo fun post here on the forum. Personally I feel it is too much work to post photos on here so I quit doing it.

Here’s how I do it with photobucket. Copy the IMG tags (they are already formatted) & past them in the rquired spot after clicking on the tree image. I reduce the size to 500 x 500.
