Adding a railway museum & display to a layout

Photobucket

Many small towns in Canada have some sort of railway display, recalling a time when trains used to stop instead of just pass by. Faced with a bit of space to fill on my layout, I thought a display and museum might make a good scenic feature. Anyone else have a railway display on their layout? An old steam loco in a park, perhaps?

I thought about and have seen others talk of having a rail museum so they could display older cars and steam locos on a modern layout. Many with the idea of having excursion trains run, so they could run their steamers realisticly on the layout.

Never have seen static displays on a layout, though I have seen a number of them in the real world. Nice idea to use up some available space to small for a full, operating museum.

I’m planning on having an online museum for my layout John.

I have too many locomotives & rolling stock of most eras that instead of changing eras, why not have a museum to showcase the older locomotives & rolling stock I have.

Have been considering adding an old siding for some Rivarossi steam.

The museum style setup is what I’d use.

Meanwhile, in similar fashion…

A derelict Chicago & Northwestern F7 unit awaits transport to a locomotive rebuilder.

This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

I’ve built a large roundhouse for my museum.
