Adding a Talking Union station to my layout

I am in the process of building a layout for my American Flyer S gauge trains. I have a talking Union Station and a train shed next to it and I would like to set up the station so that it talks automatically when the train pulls into the shed. How do it do that? I also have a control button for the station. I’ve been able to make the lights inside the station work, but I don’t know how or where to place the track trips or whatever you use to make it talk automatically.

If I can’t make it talk automatically, how do I connect it to the control button so I can make it talk that way?

Thanks!

Bulldoggirl,

Hi, the Union Station and train shed is a very nice accessory. The short answer to wiring it is you need an insulating pin between two pieces of track, and the control button is connected to a terminal, #670, I think. When you push the button the train will stop in that insulated section of track, the recording will play and the train will leave the station.

I think I have that pretty close to accurate. Some one may have a wiring diagram they can post for you.

Good luck with your project and add a photo for us,

Ours was set up to only talk when the button was pressed. Trains usually arrive long before announcements are made.

Thanks for all the good advice. I hooked up the station to the control button and installed a new needle and Presto! The station talks! It’s great! I’ll try to take some video of it this week. My layout still has a long way to go, but it’s getting better all the time!

Bulldoggirl,

Seeing as how,you didn’t get one yet! [#welcome] To the Forum’s. A lot of us,have been told,we are crazy, but it’s fun,crazy !!
