adding weight to loco

I want to add a little more weight to an n gauge loco. There’s room at the top of the shell, but sticking slab of lead on top will join the two frame sides. So… what are my options? Can I make some skinny weights for each side of the frame and then superglue them down so they don’t make contact? Has anybody got some experience here and be willing to help me out? Thanks.

Vinyl electrical tape is your friend. A piece between the frame top and your new weight will keep the electrons in their proper places.

Guess it is a Bachmann? On mine I used self sticking tire weights, but I am HO scale.

You can either cover the tops of the frame halves with tape and glue the weight to the roof, or cover the top of one frame half and glue the weight to the other half with it resting on both halves.

I would recommend using 5-minute epoxy rather than CA, epoxy is more shock/vibration resistant and doesn’t get brittle with age.
