adjusting v-max on loksound decoder

OK, my brawa talent came in, and I installed the decoder ( loksound ). Workes perfect. Except the top speed is not at what I want it to be. I am using this as a high speed railcar for commuter service on my layout. As of now, it aint going to fast I tried entering 100, then 255, under CV5, but after I put in the value, read it to make sure it is the new one, it is still 60, the factory value!!! Every time I enter a new #, it goes right back to the factory value.!! How can I change the v-max?? ( I need it higher ) Is it a different cv#?? Thanks!!

Nataraj,

You need to make sure bit 4 of CV29 is set to 0. If it is set to 16 the decoder is following an advanced speed table and is not using the CV2,5,6 simple speed table. If you don’t understand the bit table you will need to dig up the manual use the look up chart to figure it out. As an example, for a decoder with a short address, 128 speed steps, no analog control, normal direction of travel and simple speed curve the value for CV29 would be 2. After making this change CV5 will affect the top speed of the locomotive as it should!

I use a digitrax zephyr… so I use whole numbers, not bit values. I will look it up… when I find the manual… its here somewhere. …
