Advice for removing HO Walthers GP20 bodyshell please ...

Guys;

I’m a Brit with a new locally purchased DC version of the Walthers Proto 2000 GP20. [It’s the #2104 NYC low hood version - 920-48553 - box dated 2011].

It works fine but I’m hoping to convert it to DCC for my friend’s son. That may become a problem due to it apparently using an ‘8 pin style’ or ‘9 pin style’ decoder [my UK stuff uses 21 pin]

but

I can’t get the body shell off. [:$]

I’ve removed the screws on the bottom [front and back] as well as the couplers and the fuel tank. But I can’t shift the shell off the body.

Any advice greatly appreciated …

Thanks - Julian

Turn the trucks and you will see some screws. They are well hidden and hard to find without some bright light.

Pete

There are four screws that hold the shell on. The two screws that hold the couplers on and two screws under the fuel tank casting. You have to pop off the plastic fuel tank in order to access them.

Even with the screws removed, the shell fits on the chassis pretty snug and requires a fair bit of wiggling to get it off.

Pete; I looked at the trucks but there are no screws beneath them on my model.

Mark; I popped the fuel tank and undid the two screws - the shell almost fell off in my hands. [:D]

Thanks for your help guys …
