I’ve got almost 35 years on the big railroad with thousands of train orders and messages, but never one like this until today… [the locations are on the east side of Washington, LFZ (Logic Free Zone)] “005 - Dispatcher Message Number 34018 Look out for unsafe walking conditions between Bennings and Chesapeake Jct. Used hypodermic needles on ground.” There are some third world countries that are safer than South East…
yeah, I’d say that’s different alright. It’s really quite sad.

With the culture that exists around Bennings…needles are the least caliber of the objects that can penetrate the skin.
Scary stuff. We have enough job related hazards without AIDS and HepC…

That one IS very scary!
Sounds like LA between Mission Tower & Redondo Jcn.
Yuck, that’s something I wouldn’t want to be getting…
But I suppose I would prefer the warning. [xx(]
Hey guys, please make sure you wear thick leather work boots with thick soles and PLEASE don’t fall on the ground.
Used to be you only had that problem at the beach…
It isn’t limited to RR operations. There are many places in the country where letter carriers find hypodermic needles in the blue collection boxes. In addition to that potentially life threatening discovery, lots of other really disgusting trash is sometimes found among the letters folks have dropped in the blue box(es).
