Again with the Bachmann 44 Tonner

Thanks to Dan Raitz for his reference to the Sept. 1993 article on rewiring the 44 tonner from parallel to series. Unfortunately I can’t get my hands on that back issue. Nor can I find anthing on the web. Can anyone describe basically how its done.?

I understand that rewiring in series cuts the voltage in half. Will this work for any poorly running loco? Why aren’t all locos wired this way if it provides smooth, slow prptotypical operation?

I have rewired some of my 70 and 44 tonners this way and it does make a difference. It improves low speed operation, starts and stops. [:D] However, it doesn’t solve the problem of frequent motor burnout. [B)]
