Please ignore the post in “Passenger” facepaw Didn’t realize it was in the wrong place 'till I posted it.

And just when you thought all the Metra F40PHs were done being rebuilt…EMD is taking them in at La Grange to rebuild them a second time, replacing he kinks that Progress Rail put in at Kentucky. Some of them are already lined up outside of the shops. Progress tinkered with the wiring and installed computers, as well as a new cab and slightly larger gas tank.

On a side note, METX 611 and 614 are in storage, and due to major frame destruction, MP36 401 might become the first retired MP36

Progress Rail and EMD are one and the same - Caterpillar owned Progress Rail, and EMD is part of Progress Rail. Sounds like typical ‘warrenty’ work being done.

BTW, those locomotives have ‘fuel’ tanks, not ‘gas’ tanks. They burn diesel fuel.

The MN F40’s for WOH service outshopped from Mayfield have had more than their fair share of problems. Draw your own conclusions.

Agreed,they’re the same company, but Progress rail didn’t start out in LaGrange, Illinois, and EMD is only a subsidiary to Progress.

And EMD was also just a subsidiary of General Motors prior to being spun off.
