? again....

This will be so short I don’t want to get it lost in another thread.

Rochelle - are there any statistics on any accidents or injuries involving the many people that go to train park? I saw no real barriers and some of those trains go thru there pretty fast.

Anyone know?

Thanx

Here are some September 29, 2010 photos of the place to try to answer Mookie’s inquiry.

I would opine that any incident involving a patron of the park and a train, and which resulted in injury, would result in either a really high fence, or the flat-out closing of the park.

With that as a guide, I’d have to suggest that there have been no such problems, so far.

Tree: That is excellent. And so are the pictures from KP. Thanx to both of you.

I’m with Larry: if a train were involved in any incidents at the park, it would have been mentioned somewhere in the railfan fora (I’ve seen nothing), and–if it weren’t closed outright–measures would be taken to drastically curtail activity there.

Just be smart and careful out there, so things stay as they are. (It’s conceivable that Fostoria-style fencing might have to be installed otherwise.)

If there were other accidents that did not involve trains (such as stumbling, slipping, falling off the walls, falling off that “strap-rail track”, getting burned by the fire pit, etc.), they probably wouldn’t be a matter of record unless they were severe enough to warrant changes.

Are those three people in that one photo abiding by the rules of the park and the railroad property trespass laws?

It doesn’t seem to harm the atmosphere at Fostoria - probably wouldn’t be a bad idea at Rochelle, regardless.
