As title says, I finished this project. I tried to bash all of the AHM out the car and it was a lot of work. I tried to find my orginal thread but couldn’t, so I started a new one, sorry. Click the link to see the finished car and lots of in progress photos

Thanks, Bobby

That car is lucky to have an owner like you.

Excellent job! Wait till Sean S. over at DD site sees this. I’ve been collecting a few of these, got some advice from Sean as to what products he used, I started to strip a couple of them down, and thats as far as I have gotten. To many projects started.

Mike.

Bobby that is great two years ago i found a Shell one at the train show for a $1.50 can see where it was lots of work.

Thanks Dave.

Mike, Sean sent me some photos to go by.

Russell, it was a lot work, but very enjoyable, thanks.

Looks outstanding

Garry, thank you very much.

An excellent job - and an interesting prototype. I admire those who can see the potential in that kind of train set quality raw material – not to mention the talented kitbashing and detailing.

Dave Nelson

Thank you Dave, you’re most kind.

That looks amazing. I have just begun to weather in powders. Using pastels actually scraped to make my own powder. I am getting better with it and I am happy with how it is progressing. Ever since I lost my airbrush (living in apartment now) I have been at loss at method I have been happy. That model is inspiring.

If I may ask, did you seal it? Or any info on how you weathered it? Thank you

Thank you Big John. I used Bragdon powders and Tamiya flat white. First I sprayed the car with Dull Cote, using the spray can. Then on go the powders. Bragdon powders have a glue mixed in with the powders, unless you handle the model a lot, it stays put quite well. I made a thin wash with flat white and brushed it on with a half inch brush. The wheels, trucks and couplers were done with Tamiya Red Brown and flat brown. Again I make a thin wash using water.

Thanks again, Bobby
