AHM / Rivarossi kadee coupler retro-fit????

Hello all,

Way back in the 70’s or 80’s ,AHM / rivarossi produced a six axle heavy duty 50’ flatcar in HO scale { Don this is for you } . I need to find out which kadee couplers will fit these truck mounted …trucks.

I’ve aready visited the kadee web page ,only to discover that kadee 505 couplers fit rivarossi six axle passenger trucks. But none for the six axle buckeye trucks. Will the kadee 505 couplers fit the buckeye trucks ?

I’M GUESSING NOT.

LOOK at KD #18 and #20 series for AHM . If that fails cut off the Talgo ‘arms’ and body mount a #48. All couplers ending in ‘8’ have same shank length (medium).

AHM was a prolific product line. Their coupler pockets should be repetative. Their products came from Italy (Rivarossi) or Austria (Roco?)

Thank you so much . Now I have another question . Can one change the wheels from rivarossi to ,say kadee wheels. ? I’d like to keep the buckeye trucks ,but get rid of the wheels,in favor of kadee wheels, or some other brand. As you and many others know ,the roco /rivarossi flanged wheels are way out of scale and cause derails.

I have that same flat car and I got rid of the truck mounted couplers in favor of a body mounted standard #5 KD. It was a simple change. Will your radii support body mounts.
